Paul Johnson’s 1980 Trans am – as seen in HOT ROD (December 07 issue). I had to include Paul’s car here as it showcases what turbos can do. He has managed to coerce 848 rear wheel horsepower out of an iron headed 455 cubic inch Pontiac. The performance of the car is nothing short of spectacular: 9.64 seconds at 149 mph weighing 4016 lbs. Paul built the entire car out of his one stall garage at home and drove it over 4000 miles last year.
