Torpedo Launch Tube Machine

Mentis Sciences in Manchester NH designed and built a carbon fiber torpedo launch tube winding machine for Navy Research. The purpose of this machine is to build carbon fiber torpedo launch tubes for submarines. Current torpedo launch tubes are made from giant aluminum extrusions. This new machine will ultimately build a stronger, lighter and cheaper torpedo launch tube. JA Metalworks assisted with the construction and fabrication of the machine. Many of the custom billet parts that make up the headstock and tailstock as well as the aluminum trollies, fiber feeding racks, and resin bath were built in house at JA Metalworks.
